Shoebox Appeal 2026

Every year, thousands take part in Blythswood Care’s Shoebox Appeal, filling boxes with simple gifts for people affected by poverty, trauma and exploitation.

Each shoebox brings joy, dignity and a reminder that someone cares.

This year, our shoeboxes will bring hope to people living in impoverished areas of Albania.

How to Pack a Shoebox

Boxes can be packed for children or adults with a variety of items, from toys and games for children, to tools for men, nail varnish for women, or foldable walking sticks for older people.

Before purchasing any items, please take a look at the list provided by Blythswood on the information leaflet: Download Leaflet

  • Choose a shoebox and decide whether it’s for a child, teenager, man or woman. Flat packs can be ordered from Blythswood on 01349 830777.

    Wrap the box and lid separately, ensuring the box can still be opened easily.

  • Fill the box with useful, long-lasting items. Remove unnecessary packaging to save space and reduce waste. Use the checklist (click) to include all recommended items, then tick them off and attach it to the outside of the box.

  • Drop off your box at King’s between October 25 - November 8.

    Drop Off point at King’s will be at the Equip Bookshop.

Drop Off Information

Drop Off: October 25 - November 8

To ensure all boxes can be shipped and bless people in need, your boxes need to be dropped off at King’s between October 25 - November 8.

Opening times: Mon-Fri 9am-5pm • Sat 10am-3pm • Sun 9am-1pm

Drop Off point at King’s will be at the Equip Bookshop.

Other Ways To Get Involved

  • During the drop off weeks (Oct 25 - Nov 8), we need a large number of volunteers who can help check and sort through the boxes.

  • Finances are also a big help to make the shoebox appeal happen. See the leaflet for more information.

  • If you decide not to fill a whole box, donating items like toothpaste can be a big help towards the cause. See the checklist for what items are suitable.
